Voice from a teacher at Waianae Intermediate School

"The children here live in a beautiful town surrounded by mountains and the sea, but many students have not had the chance to go into the city and visit the important historical locations and museums.

According to the recent U.S. Census, 80% of families here live in poverty. Some students and their families live in shelters and don’t have a car to travel on the island.

The children here are smart and full of potential. We want to provide them with extra enrichment opportunities!

I would love to take my students to the state capital and visit museums this year.

Mainland schools have their own buses, but here in Hawaii we have to rent a bus for each group of 50 students for a fee of $250. In addition, students have to personally pay an admission fee for each location we visit. The Department of Education does not have a budget for excursions or off-campus learning.

Field trips to historical locations are a great way for children to learn about the history of their beautiful island and culture.

We will use this donation for bus arrangements and admission fees to the locations we visit."

"I am very grateful for the donation from LE'A MAKAHA. We received not only money but also sandals and backpacks. Students need them very much.

I hope customers will continue to support LE'A MAKAHA’s quality products."

LE'A MAKAHA will continue to support the education of children in WAIANAE and MAKAHA.

We look forward to your continued support.
